August monthly review

 August

I had decided at the beginning of August, that every month I would set goals and then at the end of the month I would take time to review what's been going on. What my strengths and weaknesses are and how the completion of goals went overall. One has to keep in mind that things regularly change, life gets in the way and your plans are scrambled. Even over only 4 weeks.

For my study goals, I had set "learn 20 words of German a day" from the frequency dictionary. I did in fact stick to this, besides the few days of illness in the middle. Vocabulary learning became more or less a habit, and it is one I intend to take forward into next month.

For my work goals, I wanted to make $400. This didn't happen. Things came up and it went out the window after a while. I did make about $150 though, so it wasn't a complete shambles. Plus, I now have money coming in from the Erasmus grant so I'm not going to be completely financially fucked. I hope.

For my personal goals, my overall aim was to reduce time on social media significantly. I deleted TikTok off my phone and will probably delete Instagram this month too. I decided to spend that newfound time by setting the goal of reading two books. I ended up reading four instead. One I didn't finish to be fair because it was shite. My love of reading however was truly reignited this month and I cannot wait to set more reading goals this September. I had also set the goal of writing a short story. I have only written about a thousand words so far of said short story and wish to finish it this September. As I said previously, life got in the way. I had also set the goal of 4 drawings/paintings. None were done. My love of painting is completely clouded by anxiety and frustration and this upcoming September I need to set a more realistic artistic goal that takes that into account.

For my relationship goals, I had set to go over to Oli's more this month and go on a date. Both were completed and I spent probably about a week in total at his house. We also went to Zizzi's. I also had intended to take Zoe on a bday date but that went out the window thanks to a combination of her working constantly and me not having any money. I did however spend a lot of time with Zoe and went over for a dinner party, as well as waxing her legs and vagina. Two very different bonding activities. I was also meant to be going into town with Mum. This obviously didn't happen with all the drama and difficulties surrounding Nana.

Overall, I feel as though this month was a success. Considering I was ill, Nana was ill and my Dad has been a complete arsehole. It was extremely stressful at times and I find myself sleeping badly most nights, but have managed to stay fairly productive. I'm particularly pleased with my revisited love for reading and cannot wait to continue with that. As well as keeping on top of my German and enjoying writing. I also now know that my goals for September should be scaled back a little bit, especially considering that I'm returning to University. Things that went wrong this month are still however extensive. The stress is out of control and Oli and I are still fighting with various thieves about deposits and electricity bills. There have been times where I feel extremely overwhelmed.

Anyways, hasta luego,

Liana
